Different day and different venue – Game 2! After the resounding win from our Killester Ladies the venue was full of hope for a second win of the day. Facing Γ‰anna Basketball Club it was not going to be an easy task on this Dublin derby.
We welcome to the team Yanis Lahgazi wearing number 21., his addition to the team comes at a great time as we have Paddy Sullivan and Ciaran Roe out to injury.
Point by point this game game played out, with Killester coming back from 9 points down and pulling out a 3 point lead in Q4.
This was one of those games that you won’t ever forget, as the tension was so high, the teams so passionate and the scoreline brutal.
With 1 min left on the clock, teams were even 74 – 74, Killester was fouled and James Gormley of Eanna missed 2 free throws – this was a pivotal moment as immediately Paul Dick scored an epic 3 pointer to bring the score to 77 -74. With seconds left on the clock, Eanna scored a 2 pointer but this still left Killester 1 point up, the winning point! The tension in the Oblates hall was palpable, leaving the players and the crowd exhausted.
WHAT A GAME! Final score Killester 77 – 76 Eanna.
Top scorers: Paul Dick 28 points, Greg Adon 13 points and Kason Harrell 12 points.
